PRIVACY POLICY
This policy describes how Airport Development Group Pty Ltd and its related companies (including as listed at the end of this policy) (collectively referred to as ADG, we, our or us) handle personal information in its possession or control in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
ADG is committed to protecting your privacy when you are interacting with our website, using our services, visiting our airports, hotels, resorts or other facilities, participating in our community engagement programs or otherwise interacting with us.
In this Policy ‘personal information' means information about an identified or identifiable individual (a natural person).
By providing us with your personal information, you consent to your personal information being collected, held, used and disclosed in accordance with this policy. This policy is in addition to any other applicable terms and conditions that may apply to your relationship and/or engagement with us.
This policy is current as at 9 June, 2026. We reserve the right to amend this policy at any time, to ensure that it is maintained to the highest standard, by posting the updated policy on our website at https://www.alicespringsairport.com.au/privacy-statement. The date of this policy will inform you as to whether there have been updates since your last visit.
WHAT PERSONAL INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?
Personal Information
The types of personal information collected and held by ADG will depend on your relationship with ADG and any applicable legal requirements.
We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for one or more of our functions or activities, such as the provision of airport services and access to our hotels, resorts, facilities or amenities, the sale of tour packages via our Travel Gateway website or for us to run community programs, including indigenous engagement programs and other cultural initiatives.
In general, the personal information we collect and hold about you may include:
- your name, address, telephone numbers, email address, date of birth, gender, employment details, flight details, your vehicle number plate, your driver’s licence number and passport details
- your financial details (e.g. your payment information, when you enter into a transaction with us, your bank account details or payment history for invoicing and/or payroll purposes)
- records of our communications or dealings with you, including any complaints, incidents requests or queries
- your responses to surveys and feedback provided to or by ADG employees and contractors
- your preferences and demographic information (e.g. your preferred destinations, frequency, methods and purpose of travel, age and income demographics)
- your preferences and product usage information (e.g. information linked with you as a customer, such as interaction with functions within apps or services, product connectivity, performance and diagnostics data)
- your customer support-related information (e.g. details entered in self-service or contact forms, chat session logs or other correspondence with us)
- your website usage information (only to the extent that this may be linked with you as a customer, such as interactions with our services, product searches and data concerning activity)
- a recording of your image on closed circuit television (CCTV) and our facial recognition technology
- a recording of your voice from calls to certain airport operations or security telephone lines
Other kinds of personal information may also be collected where relevant to other activities you engage in with us, such as information about your participation in one of the community programs we run.
If you participate in our direct marketing activities (described further below) we may also collect additional information about you to help tailor our marketing content and improve our products via market research.
If you provide us with personal information about a third party, you warrant that the third party has consented to us collecting and using their personal information in accordance with this policy.
Sensitive information
We may also collect and hold sensitive information about you from time to time, including but not limited to:
- health information, if we are making any special arrangements for you (e.g. access to disabled parking spaces, or for you to have access to certain priority services)
- racial or ethnic origin (including whether you are of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent), where necessary, (e.g. for the purposes of running our community programs, preparing our community engagement reports or enrolling you in our Indigenous Training Academy)
- information about your occupation, employment history, education and suitability for a role or relationship, including criminal records (e.g. for security clearances).
- biometric information (e.g. X ray scans (full body), imagery data captured via CCTV and car park monitoring and identity verification documents)
We only collect sensitive information about you with your consent, where required or permitted by law or otherwise in accordance with the Privacy Act.
In the case of matters relating to security or airfield operations - for example, applications for an aviation security identification card (ASIC), visitor identification card (VIC) or other forms of identification card or an authority to drive airside (ADA) at one of our airports - we may also collect personal or sensitive information in order to manage and administer our business systems and comply with our legislative obligations, such as under the Aviation Transport Security Act 2004 (Cth) and Aviation Transport Security Regulations. This information may include:
- your place of birth, country of citizenship and gender
- your photograph
- in the case of applications for an ASIC or other form of identification card, your previous residential addresses for the last 10 years, details of previous criminal offences, details of any pending prosecutions and information provided to us by relevant government agencies (such as the outcome of criminal records checks, security assessments and immigration checks).
Websites and cookies
When visiting our websites we may use cookies to automatically record details about any computer used to access those websites. A cookie is a very small text file which is stored on your computer’s hard drive when you first visit our websites (including those of our hotels, resorts and facilities). This may include the IP address, domain name, browser type, the date and the time of access and details of the information downloaded. These details are not capable of identifying you and are used solely for statistical analysis and research on usage patterns to improve the website. Accordingly, this information is generally not treated as personal information, unless you are reasonably identifiable from such information, in which case we will handle that information as personal information and in accordance with this policy. Cookies may also be used to enable you to log in to our website, so that we can associate you with your account and collect information about how you interact with the website while you are logged in.
If you are concerned about cookies, you can set your browser to refuse cookies or alert you to the fact that cookies are being used, although this may cause you to lose some of the functionality of our websites.
HOW DO WE COLLECT INFORMATION?
Personal information will normally be collected directly from you when you deal with us by telephone, by correspondence through a letter, e-mail, via our website, filling in any forms we publish either in paper hardcopy or online, by making an application for an ASIC, VIC, ADA or other form of identification card or through direct face-to-face contact.
Other ways in which we collect personal information include:
- where you access any of our retail products or services, including our online sites
- where you complete any printed or electronic forms, including via our website
- recording your image from CCTV taken on our airport premises, hotels, resorts or other facilities
- through recording calls to certain airport operations and security telephone lines for security and/or safety purposes
There may be occasions when we collect personal information about you from a third party, such as:
- a service provider
- a customer airline or retail outlet, or other service provider operating from our airports, hotels, resorts or other facilities
- our business partners or suppliers
- for job applicants, any employment or reference checks
- in relation to security matters, a government department, body or law-enforcement agency
Where we collect personal information about you from a third party, we will take such steps as are reasonable to notify you that we have collected the information and that it will be handled in accordance with this policy.
Third parties may also provide us with aggregated or anonymised information, for example information about how individuals utilise services like Wi-Fi at our premises. Where we receive this kind of information, provided that we cannot reasonably identify any individuals from the anonymised data provided, it will not constitute personal information and may be used by us in ways that are outside the scope of this policy.
WHAT IF YOU REFUSE TO PROVIDE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION ?
You are not obliged to provide us with personal information. However failure to do so may mean that we are unable to enter into the relevant transaction with you, provide you with an appropriate level of service or process any application for the issue of an authority, licence, pass or permit.
Where practicable, you may also have the option of identifying yourself using a pseudonym in relation to a particular matter. This may not be possible in all circumstances, including where we are required by aviation safety laws to collect information about your identity.
HOW DOES ADG USE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?
We may use and disclose your personal information for the following purposes:
- to offer and provide you with our goods or services, for example, to provide you with access to our airport, hotel or resort facilities and amenities, including the booking of such facilities and amenities with us
- to respond to any of your queries or provide information requested by you
- to process accounts, bill or send you tax invoices and receipts
- to help us develop, improve, manage and administer the services we provide to you
- to ensure that our business systems are functional and reliable, which may include fulfilling legal obligations
- to conduct market research and direct marketing activities (including sending you communications by email, SMS, App notification or post, in relation to products, services, promotions and benefits offered by ADG and our airline partners and tenants)
- to process applications effectively for the issue of authorities, licenses, passes, permissions and permits (including ADAs, ASICs, and other identification cards)
- to assess whether or not any authorities, licenses, passes, permissions and permits should be cancelled or suspended
- as part of the investigation and analysis of incidents or occurrences (including potential incidents and occurrences) which occur on or at one of our airports
- to investigate, respond to or defend claims made against, or involving, ADG
- to administer, perform or enforce a contract or agreement which ADG has with you or with our service providers
- for ongoing crime prevention, aviation safety, airport security and operational purposes
- for law enforcement, insurance matters, safety purposes, or operational purposes for which the information was collected
We may also use and disclose your personal information for a secondary purpose that is related (or in the case of sensitive information, directly related) to the primary purpose of collection, for example:
- to verify your identity, if necessary
- to notify you about important updates or disruption to our services
- to contact you about lost items
We will not use or disclose your personal information for purposes other than those set out in this policy without your consent, unless that use is authorised under the Privacy Act.
DIRECT MARKETING
We may use your personal information to contact you from time to time whether by email, phone or SMS, App notification to identify a product or service that you may be interested in or to tell you about new products or services, special offers, promotions and events. Where required by applicable law, we will obtain your consent prior to sending direct marketing communications to you.
If you do not want us to contact you for these purposes, you can withdraw your consent and let us know at any time by unsubscribing from the mailing list by clicking on the link in the marketing communication or by contacting the Privacy Officer (at the contact details below).
WHEN DOES ADG DISCLOSE PERSONAL INFORMATION TO THIRD PARTIES?
We may disclose your personal information:
- for the primary purpose for which it was collected
- for a secondary purpose related (or, in the case of sensitive information, directly related) to the primary purpose for which the information was collected
- for any other purposes you have consented to or where we are required or permitted to do so by law
Some of the recipients we may disclose your personal information to include:
- in the case of information collected through your application for an ASIC or any other identification card, government agencies from time to time (such as the Commonwealth Attorney General’s Department, Australian Security Intelligence Organisation, AusCheck, the Australian Federal Police, Australian Customs and Border Protection Service, the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship and the Northern Territory Police) for security, law enforcement, customs and immigration purposes
- to our contractors and agents (for the purpose of the services they provide) so that we can complete a transaction on your behalf or provide you with a service that you have requested, including airlines companies, travel and booking agents, and tour and accommodation providers
- to comply with law including under a subpoena issued by a court.
OFFSHORE DISCLOSURE
Your personal information may be transferred to other jurisdictions, including to our related companies and third party service providers located overseas, for technical and administrative purposes.
We will take reasonable measures to ensure that disclosure is in compliance with the requirements of the Privacy Act. By providing us with your personal information, however, you consent to the disclosure of such information to overseas recipients, and acknowledge that in the event that an overseas recipient breaches the Privacy Act, that entity will not be bound by, and you will not be able seek redress under, the Privacy Act.
HOW DOES ADG PROTECT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?
ADG takes reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against misuse and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Such measures include:
- firewalls, virus protections, and login password protocols for all information stored electronically
- data encryption and digital access restrictions
- secure, access-controlled premises
- limited access locations for information stored as hard copy
- confidentiality provisions in our employment and service contracts
We will retain your personal information for as long as we require it to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected, unless a longer retention period is required for the purpose of discharging our legal, accounting and reporting requirements.
Where we no longer require your personal information, we will use reasonable endeavours to comply with our legal obligations in respect of that information (e.g. by de-identifying or destroying it).
WHAT RIGHTS DO YOU HAVE TO ACCESS AND CORRECT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION HELD BY US?
We will take reasonable steps to ensure the personal information we collect, hold and disclose about you is correct and complete. If you believe that your personal information that we hold about you is inaccurate, outdated or incomplete, please contact us at the contact details listed below so we can update the records we hold about you. If you satisfy us that any personal information we hold about you is not accurate, complete or up-to-date, we will amend our records accordingly.
Requests for access and/or correction of personal information will be dealt with consistently with the Privacy Act. We may need to verify your identity before we allow you to access your personal information. We are permitted to withhold or refuse your access in prescribed circumstances, such as if the request is frivolous or vexatious, or if giving you access to that information would have an unreasonable corresponding impact on the privacy of individuals.
There is no application fee for making a request to access or correct your personal information. However, we may charge an administrative fee for the provision of information in order to recover costs.
We will attempt to respond to your request to access or correct your personal information within 30 calendar days.
